With curiosity always as my guide, I often find myself wandering away from the beaten path and into places I perhaps ought not be. Scattered throughout the forgotten parts of this country are the ruins of all manor of interesting structures; some are temporarily mothballed, awaiting a second life, while others crumble to the ground through the decades, by the force of wind and rain. Having long ago succumbed to the illicit pull of “urban exploring,” I now feel no guilt at poking my nose past the “No Trespassing” signs that skirt these places and their half-hearted threats from the past. For I come in peace. I leave only footprints and take only photos. I capture a sliver of time for myself, then leave the rest to its business of breaking these places down into heaps of rust and dust. What follows is a collection of photos from some of the places unknown I’ve encountered during my journey. I look forward to seeing more when my trip soon continues.
